Prothemedesign Overview

Prothemedesign was established in 2007 by two distinguished web designers, Darren Hoyt and Ben Gillbanks. Darren is a New York-based expert with 10 years of web design experience. He is popular among the WordPress community for his various theme creations like Mimbo and Agregado. Ben is based in London where he practiced web design for many years. He is well known for his image-resize script, Tim Thumb, where he developed it with uniqueness and creativity.

Theme Functionality

Every premium WordPress theme created by Prothemedesign is professionally made with excellent layout and features to make web design easier especially for people without technical skills. Most themes have custom control panel options to manage typography, column size and navigation.

Additionally, the themes have animated multi-level drop down menus. Most themes also have image thumbnail resizing and they have threaded comments, paged comments, and equipped with support for gravatars. Another distinct feature found in some themes by Prothemedesign is that they are easy to translate. In fact one theme has been already translated into 15 different languages.

Theme Graphics

The graphics of Prothemedesign are not as good as Eleganthemes which have various color variations and graphical effects. Most of Prothemedesign themes have single colors while some themes are even plain white with dark colored headers. Fonts are standard without much graphical effects, unlike Gorillathemes which have graphical font effects on its titles in most of their themes. Nevertheless, graphics resolution of all themes created by Prothemedesigns are excellent.

Theme pricing of Prothemedesigns is categorized into 2 main packages. Just like Studiopress, they offer the Basic Package and the Developer package. The Basic Package has a single usage license while the Developers Package allows you to use the themes on as many websites as you like with multiple license.

Package cost offered by Prothemedesigns is quite unique since they vary according to the type of theme. Themes with very simple designs, like plain white backdrop, is offered at $59 for single license while the multiple-usage license is offered at $149. For themes with advanced designs, they are priced at $79 for the single license and $169 for the multiple-usage license.

Pricing of Prothemedesigns are somewhat expensive. Although they are quite similar with the pricing of Gorillathemes, but in this case they are not even offering any discount unlike the aforesaid competitor. Consequently, their themes are expensive compared to most themes offered by premium WordPress theme providers especially when it comes to multiple-usage license.

Theme Support

Support for clients is offered through the support forum where you can be assisted if you have questions regarding installation, customization, upgrades, and bugs. Aside from the forum, there is a helpdesk where you can submit a ticket if you encounter emergency bugs that require immediate attention and assistance. Helpdesk tickets are given priority and quickly answered. This is a distinct support feature that they are offering for its clients.

Summary

If you are very particular on looks and graphical effects on your website then Prothemedesign may not be able to live up to your expectations since most of their themes are simple. However, when it comes to functionality, they are competitive since they have unique features that allow easy site navigation and straightforward lay-outing of your website.

Pricing is one of the major setbacks since they are quite expensive compared to other premium WordPress themes created by its major competitors. Although their price falls within the standard price range of most premium themes, such price is only for the single usage license while its competitors are giving unlimited usage at the same price.
